Take that and that and that

So I've sucessfully beat up Valentine's Day, my least favorite holiday of the lot. Luckily, until this year I haven't really felt that bitter about it and the feeling bitter I think is a good thing which I will get to. I think Valentine's day is a big let down, even if you are in a relationship (and I have been in several, so this isn't my bitter single self talking). I mean you have to spend money on a guy that usually doesn't deserve you and on things that usually die or are eaten. I mean shouldn't everyday be Valentine's Day. If you love someone that much, shouldn't you let them know it everyday through things other than chocolate, cards, flowers and cheesy heart shaped jewelry, which are just a way for our consumer driven society to suck some money out of our wallets. I mean I've been a sucker for all this before, but the past few years of singleness has really put things into perspective and I think that's why I'm bitter. I'm finally ready to put up with a guy's crap again, because let's face it you can't live with em' but you can't live without them and I don't want to be alone forever. I just think it's really dumb that society has a holiday that leaves people out (and not just single people). This year I actually felt bad about being single. Every red heart I saw made me feel as if I wasn't worthy to be a part of the valentine's club and trust me, I am worthy. I saw the much talked about Valentine's Day movie which contributed to my feeling bad about myself. I'm the first one up for a movie about love, but I think there should have been a message that it's okay to just be single and celebrate the people other than your partner that love you. Even the single girl in the film ends up with someone. Anyway, there is my rant on my new least favorite holiday. Now I'm going to go sit with my bitter self and indulge in the chocolate I bought for myself, because in the true spirit of the holiday, hearts to me. I'm fabulous.

  1. I know I'm months behind in responding to this, but I just wanted to let you know that I agree with you...you are fabulous! V-day is restrictive on who participates..that's why I enjoy St. Patty's Day. Everyone can wear green and drink :)
